Well, out on the limb I go...

Initially I assumed it was because the CFP-12 was about to be signed onto before anyone knew about the Texas and Oklahoma musical chairs - that news would have been after the fact, just after the ink dried on the CFP-12. The other conferences would stand around with their mouths' agape feeling totally used.

I now believe that the date still has financial significance to both Texas and Oklahoma, but I also believe for Texas and its fans it is self-erected date because they are too good to be tied any longer than that. Juvenile I know but hey this is Texas and their fan base. Unfortunately their power managers think just like the fans do most days.

But, there could also be an issue with the LHN and ESPN. ESPN has never paid Texas a Penny on the LHN. That problem compounds every year and the sudden exit fee negotiation got snafued when ESPN got caught trying to Blue Light Special 5 of the remaining 8 teams to the AAC.

I am told that it is a combination of money and pride, but I am not sure you or I use the same dictionary as Texas to describe feasible. Like all things in this mess, the truth will eventually come out. A lot of people will neo-construct events, forgetting their own dubious actions while highlighting the benefits. It happens all the time.

In the end it might not make a bit of difference. So much of what is going on is not going to make any difference. Negotiation on the exit timeline and fee, will not matter, everyone knows they can pay and they will. They have told Bowlsby, they want to be out by July 1 2022 in their meetings. The Alliance kerfuffle is another do nothing bunch of fuss that is going to do zilch expect make headlines and empty promises.

Not much has really happened and what has happened before it was supposed too. I can only go back the historical. When Miami, VT and BC left they did so within a year. Likewise, when WVU left for the Big-12, just one year. Same holds for Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas A&M. Everyone spends no more than one year before slamming the door behind them. Just seems that is how it is supposed to be. Only Pitt and Syracuse took an extra year. I think even Maryland and Rutgers left in one year. All of the G5 schools moved in one year that I can think.

In fact everyone has except Syracuse and Pitt and they were too poor too move faster.
